One of the things I like about the Shiloh show is the chance to spend a relaxing day in the beautiful Ohio
countryside, and this year's show on August 14-15 certainly didn't disappoint, as I think it might have been
some of the nicest weather for any of the years that I have been able to attend. Moderate temperatures,
low humidity, and beautiful, warm, golden sunshine made for a great weekend. A little bit of rain pushed
through overnight, but it didn't interfere with the show. There appeared to be a steady stream of trucks
that made their way back and forth from the trails all Saturday, and there was enough mud to keep the hardiest
of trail riders happy. In keeping with current trends in the hobby, there were more modern vehicles making
an appearance at the show, including a couple M998 Humvees and M1078 FMTV deuces, and a M929 5-ton dump, but the
older Mutts and Jeeps were still well represented. This year, the Friday night meal featured a pig roast
performed by Michigan member Steve Koenig, and I understand it was delicious. However, the biggest news
to come out of this year's show was that the hosts, Planktown Hardware expressed a desire to move the long-time
August event to Father's Day weekend in June. After several club discussions on the subject, it was decided
to go ahead with the move. So mark your calendars for next year's Shiloh Show on Father's Day weekend, 2016.
